So I decided to start a blog. I’ve been thinking about it for some time, and boredom turned out to be the best motivation to actually do it. It’s not that I think I have anything particularly important to say, but rather this blog will (hopefully) be my motivation to do more creative work in my spare time.

In my university days, I was actively creative in my off time, and found a lot of reward in artistic ‘play’. But since entering the entertainment industry, and often not leaving it for days at a time, I found my home life became burn out recovery, and couldn’t much muster the motivation to do anything but stare at my television set.

Recently I made a change in my career, moving into another creative – but far less demanding – role. It was one of the best things I’ve done. I managed to catch up on a vast backlog of reading, watching, and playing that I had been shelving for a couple of years in anticipation of a day off, and now I’m running out of mindless entertainment, I’m feeling the urge to return to more creative pursuits.

Hence, the blog.

I’ve unpacked a few projects I was working on in a different lifetime, and started a few more, and I hope this blog will prove motivation to get off my lazy ass and do some work. I intend (paved with, and all that) to post at least one creative piece per day, even if that means choking back my ego and publicly exposing the crap that usually gets filed away in a hidden folder at the bottom of my “Hive” HDD, under the directory named “Temp” and beside the one that says “URGH”, in the hope that I’ll forget it ever existed.

And as with most of my good intentions, I intend to start tomorrow…
